Layer Up

the art of transitional style

Transitional dressing on your mind?

Ours too. It's this in-between time when it's hot and cool all at once.  So how do you make it work?  If you feel like there are magical pieces that are chic, weather appropriate and effortless at the same time, you're right...but they can be hard to find.

Hint: weight and neutral colors are most of the battle.

Take your cue from J. Law's street style above. She NAILS transitional dressing. From her classic white tee paired with a blazer and trench coat, including wearing her sweater as a scarf.  When you hear us talking about layering, this is what we mean. Utilizing classic pieces in neutral colors makes it all work together.

Sure, she looks great, but how can I do that?

Just follow this formula:
1. Keep your base layer light - a fitted tee or ribbed tank
2. Add your layer of choice - blazer/bomber/trench
3. Add a knit pullover or cardigan under OR tied as a loose scarf over as weather dictates
4. Pair with a wide leg pant or jean
5. Finish with a shoe of the season - loafers or ballet flats

Most importantly, we worked our style magic for you!
